Reconciliation
Penance/Reconciliation/Confession:
The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins.
Five stages of Penance
Examination of Conscience – I realise that I've done wrong and feel sorry Confession – I am sorry
Penance – I accept my penance and pray the Act of Contrition
Absolution – I am forgiven
Resolving to Try Again – I try again and make amends
Confession is a sacrament in which a member of the Church confesses sins to a priest and is given absolution.
Officially, we have Confession every Saturday after morning Mass, but one who is in great need can always approach the priest any other time.
